Crafty Tuesday: Now It Can be Told

I can finally revel what I had only called Secret Project #1 for the past couple of months since it was a birthday present.

Scarlett O’Hara in the famous Curtain Dress
(For the VI: This is a puppet of the character Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind. She has brown hair and green eyes. She is wearing a green dress and a green hat with gold fringe)
This was an interesting project to undertake. I was lucky that the original dress and hat went up for auction within the past two years and I got screen shots of the catalogue photos which allowed me to figure out all kinds of things about both the dress and the hat.
The rest of this is under a cut since it is rather picture heavy.
I think I am proudest of the hat since it was a rather complicated piece that I managed to figure out.

(for the VI: A profile view of the puppet. Her hat is green with gold fringe, a chicken foot and black feathers on top)

The Original Dress
(For the VI: This is the actual costume on a mannequin)
The first thing I noticed was the chicken foot on the hat, which seemed to be attached to the feathers. Yes, I checked. That is there in screen shots of the film. The back of the hat was a square pillow sham with gold braid all around it. Fortunately there was a chinstrap in the original, which made it easier to attach to the puppet. The designer and the seamstress were very clever in how they put this hat together.

Puppet from the back
(For the VI; This is the puppet from behind. You can see the black feathers on top of the green hat and yellow chicken foot.)
So there she is Miss Scarlett in all her puppet glory.
Any questions as to how I made her or how I chose what I chose to make anything, please feel free to ask.
I am grateful that the new owner of the puppet loves her very much.
