Wonderful review, and I agree with a lot of it. I have minor quibbles with the movie, but they're honestly just nitpicking. I wish they'd kept the "I DID IT!" line of dialogue, but hopefully it was filmed and will be in the director's cut DVD.
As far as Oscars, I'm not sure any of the performances were that great, but it ABSOLUTELY deserves one for set decoration - if that's a category; I don't really follow the Oscars - and adapted screenplay. With only a couple of exceptions, it was VERY faithful to the comic, and kept the POINT of the ending accurate, at least.
