I hear what you're saying about name dropping. My husband's stepfather is a minor celebrity in this area of the country, and it's not so much name dropping as having him show up to events where people are not expecting to see him. Like my Mary Kay director debut. And my son's baptism. And my neighborhood barbeque. It can get weird for everyone because they're all "why didn't you tell us?" and we're all "um, he's just Bob." And we'd rather not name drop, you know, because he's just this guy who my kid goes to see once a week and who we have brunch with once a month.
