To those who have been following the Casting for Doctor Who Season 4

And whining about it. Jeez Louise, I swear if they told you that Alan Rickman was coming on to be the companion, you would find a reason to not like it. Last year after they announced Martha Jones, the bitchfest was amazing and she is a GREAT companion and this season has some of the best episodes yet. Give these people a chance. I can remember the K-9 kurfluffel way back when and he is now considered one of the most beloved of companions. Give them a chance and I bet they will surprise you!

My only problem is that right when I've had the racial issues in this show leap out screaming, they've gone with two more white, fair-haired companions. Which hardly fixes the problem of treating the two good black companions as less than equal.

As for how good they'll be *as* companions - I don't know Kylie from Eve and thus have no preconceptions, and I liked Runaway Bride to the point of considering it the best gateway episode and probably the best way out of the "everybody loves the Doctor" corner that the plots have painted the companions into... but I'd still like to see them bring on a non-white companion and treat them well.
