The Creative Process

puppetmakerI think I am going to be writing a lot about creativity this month. Partially since I am trying to get at least one crafty thing done a day this month. I am going to have to skip a couple of days due to a couple of conventions but I think I have the rest of the month covered.
Yesterday I finished up the Round Robin Doll and shipped it off to the next person on the list. I have the next one but I will work on it after Lunacon and I-Con (which is a one-two punch again this year).
I tend to think a lot about a project before I embark on it. I mull it over in my head and gather the materials I need for it. Once I start on the actual project I try to do it in one shot. Time and family not withstanding. The mull process happens while I am doing other things or nothing at all so it looks like I am not getting that far on a project but I am a lot further in my head. Yeah, I do know there is a difference between being in my head and out in Real Life but I have found that I have fewer problems with the final product if I work all the problems out in my head at least it lets me anticipate what might go wrong.
I also need to get better about documenting what I have made. I have until the 15th of March to submit to the DragonCon Art Show and I can only show work from the last two years. There are a couple of pieces that I have sold and not gotten pictures of for various reasons that I would have liked to use. I think I have enough but I am going to try to get a couple of new pieces in before the deadline and photographed. I will say that I am much better about it than I was in the past. I have learned to document finally.
Well off to get onto the next project on my list. I hope everyone has a good day and if you are living in the windtunnel that we currently call the North-east, try to stay warm and covered. It is vicious out there right now.
