That is in a nutshell how I feel.

The keel is a flat blade sticking down into the water from a sailboat's bottom. It has two functions: it prevents the boat from being blown sideways by the wind, and it holds the ballast that keeps the boat right-side up.

When you have an even keel then you can make progress smoothly and steadily as you sail. You don’t have to worry about the boat tipping over and dumping you into the drink.

That is what the last week has been. Smooth and steady progress on several fronts.

There were a few bumps along the way.

A second round of snow with a deep freeze following it was not fun this morning. I am glad that Caroline had a two-hour delay which allowed me to get the car, the steps, and driveway ready to go.

I have been planning carefully for what is ahead. That has helped me a lot.

We have a couple of weather systems that will bring rain or snow depending on what is happening south of us. I will deal with them as they occur.

I feel more control of what is going on around me.

This could fall apart with any number of things. However, I plan to enjoy it.

I am grateful for ice melt.
