That Weird Thing
Jan. 11th, 2021 08:05 amFive years ago, David Bowie passed away.
It was a blow to a lot of us especially those of us who found his music a touchstone.
On that day the following was posted on Twitter, "Today, in honour of David Bowie, please take a little time to work on that weird thing you secretly create, whatever it is. He'd want you to."
I am going to take that to heart and work on some projects I have been putting off or unable to find the time for.
There are people that we never met that have influenced our lives in profound ways.
I have been lucky enough to meet a number of my heroes and tell them how grateful I am for what they do.
There are others that are never going to know what they meant to me.
Caroly Wilcox passed away. It might not be a name that is familiar outside the puppetry circles. She was the head of the Muppet Workshop for many years. She created the YipYips among her long lists of puppets she designed for Henson. She was one of the greats in puppet design and will be missed.
A friend lost her father to COVID. The number of people I know that are gone because of this pandemic is very depressing.
We could have nipped this in the bud, but idiots have to be self-absorbed idiots. I cannot tell you how many people I have seen who wear their mask under their nose. Yes, masks are not the most comfortable thing to wear but if worn correctly, they will help us get passed this pandemic.
If I can off load a truck with my mask properly worn, then others can pull the damn thing over their nose.
I have to use more lotion on my skin because the hand sanitizer and soap dries them out.
I am grateful that I have been able to tell people I admire thank you for what they do.
