Memorial Day 2020
May. 25th, 2020 09:33 amMonday May 25, 2020 Day 71 of the Homebound Saga
Today we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country.
Personally, I will also remember all those who have died doing their jobs because they caught the virus. The healthcare workers, the hospital personnel, the people declared to be essential and others who have been working for the greater good.
Up in my neck of the woods it is raining right now however it will probably stop and we can get our walk in later.
A lot of the activities that people would be doing are not allowed quite yet. The beaches are open but limited in many places. Gatherings are not encouraged not that anyone is listening to that one as there will probably be family gatherings. I noticed that the local American Veterans of Foreign Wars has been open with a number of people within without masks for the most part.
As to mental health, it was a good week over all with some bumps along the way.
I met up with friends on Zoom over the weekend. Saturday was the Arts Salon that I attend once a month and Sunday I did a reading of Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was the recharge I didn’t know I needed.
I am learning how to deal with my thumbs. It is amazing how much touches that part of your thumb. Child safety caps are a real challenge. Washing dishes became an adventure. They are looking better today and there is no sign of infection. I plan to keep it that way.
Today Caroline and I are going to start our cleaning project that we promised each other we would do once she was done with her AP exams. I think it will take about a week to complete.
Time to shake loose some dust and find out how much fabric we really have.
I am grateful for opposable thumbs.
