Actually comes out of the 14th century ideal of courtly love , think Lancelot, Arthur, and that lot.

It is in the 18th century that we get the cards, confections, and cards.

The Victorians really took it over the top.

Not bad for a martyred saint who met a rather bloody end that had chuck all to do with courtly love.

Some people love this day and other loath it and all that it stands for.

Peter and I celebrate it. We had no idea that we were going to find someone later in our lives that would become our other half. But we did and we love each other more every day.

Many people like the sales on chocolate the day after. I couldn’t find a consensus on which the patron saint of chocolate is.

It’s a day to celebrate the idea of romantic love.

So celebrate or don’t depending on how you fell about it.

Peter and I continue to do so in our own way.

I love you Peter very much.

I am grateful for chocolate.
