I have been feeling very tired and out of sorts and stressed. My tinnitus had gone from background noise to keeping me up at night. I did what you are suppose to do and made an appointment with my primary care doctor.

It was a stress test that started this whole saga. They detected what might be an arrhythmia but couldn’t get it to repeat. Between that and the list of symptoms, I was referred to at cardiologist.

There were further tests that showed a couple of things that seemed to be out of place. The best had to be the nuclear stress test, which made me radioactive right before I had to get on a plane. I had a nifty card for the TSA if I happen to set off a detector.

After all that, there was still not a clear answer but a lot of ‘it could be this’ or ‘it could be that’. I was told that they had some concerns about the lower left part of my heart pumping correctly. Stiff heart is the term they used. However there was a shadow that was not allowing them a clear picture of what was going on so no diagnosis but one more test.

On Tuesday I had a cardiac catheterization to answer all the maybes that I have been living with for a while now.

I went in at 7:30 AM and sat around for four and half hours until my turn came up for the procedure. Fortunately they were showing Face-Off on the SyFy channel and that distracted me from all that was going on around me. The people next to me were rather loud and I figured out from the conversation that the women getting the procedure didn’t have her hearing aids in. I learned all kinds of things about that family. There are two great grandchildren. One of the granddaughters came out of the closet but no one was surprised and stuff like that.

I would have been one closer in the shooting match but an emergency came through that had to be dealt with before me.

When I finally got on the table I was tired and hungry. They strapped my right arm down but it was shaking a lot because of tremors. They got it where they wanted it and gave me something to relax that stopped the tremors. That was an interesting feeling.

I didn’t watch as they placed the catheter up my arm but I could damn well feel it. They did keep me informed as to what they were doing and what I would be experiencing. At one point it felt like there were bees in my right arm stinging me from the inside. At another point there was a warm wave that went all through my body, which was nice because the room was so damn cold.

Bottom line, heart is fine. The shadow was a shadow and my heart is working correctly. There is one small problem with one of the valves but the doctor said that he would see me in 20 years for that if not later.

I have been cleared to do a lot of things I had been warned not to do until this could be sorted out. I have to wait a while before getting back into things because they want to make sure that the puncture they made into my vein does not open up.

One organ down and onto the next thing they want to look at as we sort through what is going on with me.

I am grateful that my heart is just fine.
