RTBTCKI Bits and Bobs
Oct. 30th, 2016 08:56 amCaroline and I attended her friend Pixie’s Bat Mitzvah yesterday. It was held at the Free Synagogue of Flushing, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The sanctuary is magnificent with stain glass and marble but it still felt homey. Pixie did very well and her family is very proud of her and rightly so. Her parents are friends to Peter and me so I have watched this child grow up from a babe in arms to the young lady she is today. The reception was nice for me that I got to catch up with a bunch of mutual friends who I haven’t seen in over 5 years. Caroline had a blast with Pixie and her friends especially after they established that they had common interests, which included Dr. Who, Sherlock, and Once Upon a Time along with gaming and some other fannish activities. Bravo to her parents for such a lovely time that was had by all.
Peter has returned from helping out his sister this week. He saw his mother as well who is not in the best of health so it was important for them to spend a little time together now.
Today and tomorrow are all about Halloween. I need to figure out another way to attach Caroline’s cape so she can wear it comfortably. I think I am going to start seeing if I can attached it to her chest plate. Lots of photos will be shown on Crafty Tuesday along with the rest of Drawlloween. I also have to get the comics ready and the like. It is going to be two very full days of work.
Tuesday is the Marvel Screening of Doctor Strange which, if I think about it, I have been waiting to see since I was probably eight years old. Friends who have seen it are raving about it. The critics, who seemed to have it out for this film before they saw it, are in love with it. Apparently the 3-D is worth it and the alternate dimensions are pretty trippy. I am so ready to see this film and seeing it with a Marvel audience who really ‘gets’ this sort of film is the icing on the cake for me.
Wednesday is the day that I think I can breath again. I am, of course, expecting something else to rear its ugly head and we are off to the races again.
I will be participating in NaNoWriMo this year. I have apparently been trying to get through this project for 10 years with only coming close (about half way) two years. So we have another go at that.
Jets are playing the Browns. Giants are off. The Falcons are playing the Packers.
Cubs fans, I feel your pain. They have put themselves in the must win scenario which hasn’t work out for most teams in their position. Their bats went to sleep at the wrong time.
Cleveland looks to go two for two in professional sports championships. They won’t be getting any football rings this year so will have to settle for Basketball and Baseball.
At the end of November I need a beta reader for this novel I will be writing. Anyone interested?
Off to get ready for Halloween.
I am grateful for the ability to work out in my head how to deal with an issue.
