I have to pretty much scrap most of what I was going to do today because last night my front right tooth shattered and now it is cutting my lip and my tongue because of the jagged edge. I have put a grind guard in to move my lip slightly away from the tooth. So that’s pretty much my day today.
And this sort of thing happens all the time. The phrase “life happens when you make plans” comes to mind as does JRR Tolkien’s wisdom from the Hobbit, “It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.”
A friend was talking about a doll seminar that she attended and how much she loved going to those sort of activities because when she got home, she had plenty of ideas and new things that she learned that she wanted to try but finding the time was difficult if not impossible due to her normal life of husband, two kids, and three dogs. So she treasured her time away being able to just create.
Oh one can say that they are setting time aside for whatever they want to do but then things happen and that time vanishes like wisps of smoke in the autumn air.
Right now I will take what time I can get to be creative. We are almost back into our school groove. There are a couple of things that still need to get in place for the whole thing to be back.
I honestly should just start some project and let it move forward until I have completed it. Or finish another, I haven’t quite decided yet.
Finding time to be creative may be difficult. Stealing a few precious hours to not worry about anything else other than the project in front of you can be tricky but if you want to get things done, it is a necessity.
My goal before the next DragonCon is to have things done way before the convention so by the time I get to August I am pretty much done. Now I have to make that goal a reality.
So I am going to plot and plan the next 12 months and make some time that will not turn into having to deal with other things unless life happens and then everything is off the table again.
But first I have to get this tooth attended to as it is driving me up a tree.
I am grateful that I have dental insurance.
