Hi there. Remember me?
Jul. 19th, 2016 07:48 amSunday we drove home from Shoreleave and it only took an hour and a half of traffic as apposed to the two hours and fifteen minutes adding on the way down. Caroline and I did a quick load of laundry. I finished Dr. Strange and Mordo. I unpacked and repacked us and went to bed rather later.
Monday morning started very early as we had to catch a plane out to California. We got to the airport in plenty of time. Terminal 4 at JFK has a lot of art to look at so Caroline and I went around and did just that.
Boarding was not painful. The flight was long and I couldn’t sleep on the plane. Caroline and Peter managed to do so.
Getting into LAX was the usual taxi to the gate for twenty minutes because the plane was really early.
Got the rental car which was an adventure to get to the car but once there it went pretty well.
Drove over to Burbank to have lunch with Greg Weisman. Caroline got her Gargoyles questions answered and we chatted about this and that.
The drive down to San Diego was traffic ridden but better than our ride back from Baltimore.
We got to our Hotel, off loaded the luggage, and Peter returned the car to the rental place. I went to CVS to get some liquids we need but can’t carry on due to volume.
It is interesting to see the transition from it being downtown San Diego into the extended arm of Comic Con. Billboards are being put up. Restaurants and shops are putting up decorations for the fans. The whole downtown is getting ready for Wednesday, as are we.
Today Peter has some pre-convention obligations. Caroline and I are going to the San Diego Zoo to finish her Panda trifecta. Neither of us have been to this zoo but everyone is telling us it is pretty awesome.
Tomorrow the marathon that is SDCC starts and we are looking forward to it. Caroline has been vibrating with joy that she is at her first SDCC and she is on a panel on Friday about growing up in Fandom.
I get to take a breath today before diving into the convention tomorrow.
Photos behind the cut. Since we are about out the door this morning, I will add the extended descriptions later.
I am grateful for getting here in one piece on almost no sleep.
