I had plans doggonit
Apr. 1st, 2016 09:57 amI was going to go into the city this afternoon and go to a friend’s birthday party with another friend. Woke up at 5 with a fever of 101 and joint aches that were painful. Really hoping this is NOT the flu that is going around and kicking everyone’s kister.
So it is April 1st where everything said on the Internet is not to be believed. No there is not going to be a new Firefly on NetFlix. The Washington Post is making a list of the gags and pranks out on the Internet. So far my favorite is Esurance’s Election insurance.
I promised several days ago that this would be a prank free zone and it is. Anything I put here is the truth except on January 27th if I am celebrating Charles Dodgson’s Birthday with Rabbit Hole Day which is a fun day to write a piece of flash fiction. Or if I preface the entry with this is a work of fiction.
Gosh it is hard to think this morning.
I could have call this Random Things Before the Coffee Kicks In but I was half way through my first cup and I don’t think coffee is going to do it today.
I got a challenge on Tumblr to post 10 things about me you might not know so I thought I’d put it here and then link it on my Tumblr account.
1. I don’t like avocado. It’s not the taste but the texture that drives me up a tree and I don’t care what you put in it, I can still feel that weird texture and blech.
2. I like lifting free weights over machines. I feel I can do more with that. I know I have to be careful but I have a better mind/body connections with them. Can’t do squats anymore which stinks but I have found other things I can do that does not impact my knees.
3. I have written Doctor Who fanfiction and Doctor Who tie-in fiction. I have a short story in the Big Finish Anthology “Qualities of Leadership” entitled “On a Pedestal” about the 2nd Doctor, Jamie, Victoria, and William Wallace. I gave a copy to Frasier Hines. I still occasionally write fanfic, I have just hidden it really well on the Internet.
4. I went to see Pulp Fiction for the first time with Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. Also I am thanked in the Graphic Novel “The Tragical Comedy or the Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch”. Plus there is a page that is almost a direct quote from something I said to Neil.
5. I went to Brad and George Takei’s wedding. It was amazing and I met such a diverse and interesting group of people. George came to our wedding and ended up talking Peruvian politics with some childhood friends
6. I am double-jointed in both thumbs, which makes it rather difficult to play classical guitar, however this can put useful as a puppeteer strangely enough.
7. I have made life long friends through my puppets and met my husband who proposed to me through a puppet at the Adventurer’s Club on Disney Pleasure Island.
8. I have been on the set of two TARDIS console rooms. Back in the 80s I was on the Peter Davison’s edition and a couple of years ago on Capaldi’s. They were filming Warriors of the Deep back in the 80s and Robots of Sherwood the last time I was on the set.
9. I have an MFA from the Yale School of Drama.
10. I am working on two novels and two short stories right now. I have been writing more these days in the fiction category. One of the novels is a sequel to 20,000 leagues under the sea and goes from the premise what if not all of Nemo’s family died in the massacre he describes in the book but rather one child lived and was raised by someone who hated Nemo for reasons of their own.
I am grateful that I could come up with 10 things even though my head feels like it is full of cotton-wool.
