It is Caroline’s last day in Elementary School. Next year she will be in Middle School aka Junior High.

Here is a photo from her first day

And here is one from Today

I am in awe of all that she had learned in that amount of time. She has all the basics down for the rest of her education. She is responsible for doing her homework. I think I had to remind her about it once this year and I never got a note from the teacher that she was slacking. She has a good grasp of the fundamentals in so many subjects.

And she has grown from a little girl to a young lady. She has enjoyed being a bus buddy this year and helping the kindergarten kids get on the right bus. She enjoyed her role of Mrs. Peterson in Bye Bye Birdy. She got to sing in the all district show choir. She has been given responsibilities and proven that she can do those and more.

I am so proud of her.

I am grateful for all that she has learned and done during her time at Elementary school.

Open topics are interesting because you can write about anything.

It can be your ticket to next week or to bye-bye land depending on how you entertain your audience.

I have been participating in this contest for a number of years. Each time I have gone out, it has been on an open topic somewhere in the contest.

Maybe I didn’t interest the readership or what I had to say off prompt might have been off putting.

I like the limitations of a prompt. It gives me something to chew on and mull in my mind until the essay starts to form in my head. I also like the lack of limitations on the prompt because it spurs me to be really creative.

But Open Topic can be interesting as well. I see it as as whatever is on your mind prompt.

What’s on my mind right now besides this essay?

Puppets.

Yes, that’s right, puppets and dolls and costumes are on the forefront of my brain.

I turned in my sheets to the DragonCON Art show yesterday saying what I might be bringing with me to the show this year. I have an ambitious 20 items listed this year. I have also the puppets for puppet slam (Avengers/Shield set about 15 puppets in all). And I have Caroline’s costume (Astrid version 2) and my costume for the workmanship contest to be done.

The Art Show List
The Detective (puppet)
The Captain (puppet)
Evil Queen (puppet)
The Beauty (puppet)
Snow (puppet)
Charming (puppet)
The Archer (puppet)
Nick Furry (Doll)
The Beast (puppet)
Metal Master (puppet)
The Mentalist (puppet)
Shapeshifter (puppet)
Cat-tain (Doll)
Dragon Trainer (Doll)
Wumplekins (Doll)
Dog Soldier (Doll)
Phluzzie #1 (puppet)
Phluzzie #2 (puppet)
Monster Man (puppet)
Monster Woman (puppet)

And it is 64 days until Dragon Con starts but I have only really 30 to 40 working days to get all this done. So that’s 3 puppets and objects d’art to be done per working day.

I know I can get three puppets put together in a day but costuming and the like take a little more time. Especially when I have to pattern the whole thing because I haven’t done it yet. I also have to pick and choose which version of what I am doing.

This will be done around all the other things that have to be done around the house.

I have to manage my time carefully. Starting with today where I am working on a puppet that is not in the mix for Dragon.

So there is where my head is at. I hope you enjoyed my open topic response and will keep me in for another week.
