I am not going to San Diego Comic Con this year. Currently Peter does not have plans to attend either.

It’s not that we don’t have fun. It’s not that we don’t enjoy our meals with friends or just getting together to chat. I will miss my annual Maggie Thompson and Mark Evanier dinner, which is always a trip. I will miss getting together with the Spectors. I will miss running into Marv and Noel and catching up on news. I will miss all that and the cool things to see and do and all the people that I enjoy spending time with.

For me it really has to do with the amount of energy I have to expend to just be on the floor for the show. Dodging people and things. Having to shout to talk to friends because of the noise. I can do it but I find myself getting more and more frustrated with the whole experience.

When a convention becomes more not fun than fun, it is time step back for a while.

I am not saying that I won’t be at SDCC next year but I need a breather.

This weekend we (being Caroline, Peter, and I) will be at the The Special edition NYCC. Peter is at table B 9 in the artist alley. He does have some Marvel panels. Caroline will be drawing and I will probably be bringing some puppets. We’ll see how those crowds are.

Other conventions for me this year are Shoreleave and Dragon Con which are our usual stomping grounds.

We will also be at the Florida SuperCon this year. Which will be a new one for me. I have a table to hide behind if it gets too overwhelming.

I am grateful for compression sleeves.
