All Saints Day 2013
Nov. 1st, 2013 10:07 amHappy Samhain to those who celebrated yesterday and Happy (fill in the blank) to whatever you celebrate on October 31 and November 1.
NaNoWriMo started up today. I am still debating whether I have the time to try this. I need to write more. That I know. Maybe a series of short stories? I dunno. My brain is still fried from yesterday.
Speaking of yesterday, Caroline’s costume got done. I will have pictures and possibly a video on Tuesday. It looked cheerfully macabre. She took to being a vampire very well. She went with a friend who we costumed at the last minute because she wasn’t going to go due to some bad behavior more passive than aggressive. Fortunately she is a little shorter than Caroline so we had a plethora of costumes for her to choose from. She chose Caroline’s Last Unicorn costume. The two girls giggled their way around the neighborhood and had a really good time.
We had a lot of people. We went through a majority of comics we had to give out. This year for the younger ones I had temp tats and finger puppets. For the adults walking their babies around to gather candy, we had candy. It was a busy afternoon starting at 3:30 and ending about 8:30. I love it when we have such positive reactions to comic books. We had kids who brought friends to this house because they have comics. Younger kids were thrilled to have their very own comic. Both boys and girls were happy to get them. It was nice to see such enthusiasm for them. I love sitting out on the porch and watching the groups of kids go from house to house. It is one of those pictures of small town American life that makes one happy to be here.
This will be a quiet weekend, which will be nice. We don’t have to go anywhere unless we want to. I am thinking about a cleaning weekend since we are a little behind from the past couple of conventions.
I have to gather up the library books to be returned while Caroline goes to flute. I am searching the catalogue for books I want before I go. I do like the ability to check the catalogue before I go. I also like that I can reserve books before I go in.
I might get to see some football this weekend. I know the rules were changed about head hits due to the concussion discussion. Since they can’t go high, they seem to be going low and a lot of knees are going out. I am waiting for the next set of rule, which make it even more difficult to defend the goal.
Baseball is over? Oh, yeah. Congratulations to the BoSox for finally winning their ballpark for the first time in 95 years. I think we can now say that the curse of the Bambino is dead and buried now.
Professional Basketball started. Professional Hockey started.
I am grateful that we had so many happy kids yesterday.
