Thursday is the .5 of the equation.

Wednesday we got onto the road around the time we want to and made pretty good time until we hit Virginia or rather about half way through Virginia. The road collapsed on I-81 and we got shunted off onto a two lane of a rural road 11 which had a lot of up and down hills (mountains) and went from two to one lane with the added fun of broken down trucks and cars along the way 2 hours to go 10 miles which really screwed up our plans. So we stopped in Greenville for some sleep and headed on down.

We got our luggage up to our room and I took Caroline to visit her Grandparents for a couple of days. Then the usual badges, blood donations, and art show set up. Caught up with my brother Sean for a brief time and ran into a bunch of other people I know. All in all a nice day.

Friday was setting up Peter in Artist Alley (Table 25), kicking off the Puppetry Track with my friend Liz doing a panel on foam construction and the Friday Night Workmanship contest with my usual set of judges.

Along the way, Sean presented me with this

(For the VI: This is a replica of Rumpelstilkin’s dagger from Once Upon a time. It is a wave blade with the word Rumplestilskin on it along with other markings. It is propped on the wooden display case that Sean created for it)

I control the Dark One! Hee-hee-hee

The Foam Panel went well. I think both Liz and I have ideas on how to improve it next year along with a handout we can give people with where to find some of the materials.

The Friday Night Workmanship contest is getting harder to judge every year. They keep upping their game so we are getting more picky about what we are seeing. I had my usual gang of judges. We all dressed as Vampires in memorial of Marty Gear. We showed a brief slide show memorial of Marty’s costumes, which Stephen Lesnik provided for me. It was a celebration of his life and accomplishments. The contestants were wonderful.

Today we have a full plate of various things we need and want to do. I have a good view of the parade from our room.

So Peter is at table 25 in Artist Alley. I have a panel at 2:30 at costuming and the banquet tonight then a couple of parties and some serious sleep before my Sunday starts up.

I am grateful for all the wonderful things that have happened this weekend.
