Stepping back into Old Theater Habits
Sep. 14th, 2012 09:23 amFor the next two months my weekends are booked. That’s a pretty long stretch in my current life. Not as long as some of the stints I did without weekends off and only, really, one day off a week to catch up on the rest of the week. But that’s theater and you know going in that it is not a 9 to 5 job that occurs 5 days a week. I remember that when I got the editorial job at Del Rey, it was the first time I had a job that didn’t include weekends since I graduated from college and worked in collection management at my college library. I occasionally did have a weekend off but it took a lot of planning on my part to get it and I was usually off to a convention that weekend.
Planning for things are a little more complicated because I have to take out the days that we are doing stuff. Caroline also has various days off the next three months for high holy days, elections, and district meetings which add and subtract things from a day.
Either way I have to plan carefully for what I can get done in the spots that we aren’t traveling or whatever.
This weekend we are going to celebrate my in-laws 60th wedding anniversary. This will be the first time we have had all the girls in the same place at the same time since Ariel’s Bat Mitzvah. It isn’t that we haven’t seen them, we just haven’t had them all together. Should be fun.
I am grateful for celebrations and adventures to come.
