I am behind on my schedule by quite a bit. The only thing I got done this week was the muslin for the X-outfit and I even didn’t finish that.

It is 37 days to DragonCon and I am behind. Not a great place to be but I think I can get back on track.

I also added one thing to the list because someone is going to be a DragonCon and due to events at SDCC, I am making him a puppet. I am more than happy to do so since he is such a cool guy and I have all the materials already for this one so it is just a matter of construction.

It does mean that one or two things that I might have done have gone into the idea bin until the next convention.

I do think I did solve my biggest “How the heck am I going to achieve that effect” yesterday. It is going to be interesting if it works the way I want it do. If not then I go to plan B which will take twice as long as plan A.

So starting today as a subsection of this blog is going to be the How many Days to DragonCon and what did I get done that day to give me some kind of idea of where I am.

I think part of it has to do with I need to throw myself into the X-outfit rather than keep thinking about it. I have thought and researched it to a fare-thee-well but since the outfits are all different, I have some latitude as to what I am going to make. So I need to take that and know that whatever I make, it will look good enough for DragonCon. Then onto the prop for the piece which is going to be a lot of work in its own right.

After that I start on the DragonCon Art Show Build. Parts are going to go fast and other parts are going to take longer than I hoped. But 37 days and I just need to put one foot in front of the other and start down the path to creation which I can do.

Peter gets back today from his adventures on the West Coast. I know it will be a day or two before he is back to normal and it will be nice to have the parental backup again.

I am grateful for what I did figure out so I can just go for the gusto and just make things now.

So we are a little less than a 1/3 of the way in. This episode moved us forward and reminded me of why I like watching Torchwood.

Spoilers behind the cut and in the comments.

I sometimes forget how good Barrowman is as an actor and then he does just a little thing that reminds me why I appreciate him as an actor. He is good at the subtle that later pays off but he can also act in very broad strokes. And I had forgotten how good Eve Myles is until this episode.

Mekhi Phifer is growing on me. He had been rather one note but this showed that it was more the writing than the actor. I hope that Alexa Havins character (Ester) makes it through the season and joins Torchwood. She is really our new fish out of water character like Gwen was in the first season.

Considering that we are about a 1/3 of the way through the 10 episode season, I am a little concerned that everything is going to get packed into the last two episodes rather than discovering as we go. Yes, we were introduced to the possible Big Bad this time around and I don’t mean Oswald Danes. I don’t believe that the BB is the ultimate BB in this story.

I am grateful that I got something added to my list of things to do for DragonCon.
