The Weekend in Review
Nov. 23rd, 2009 09:43 amFriday I took Caroline to the Disney Pajama Party with one of her friends and they had a great time. The Disney store personal had it well in hand and they played games with the kids, told a story, and gave out a snack. All the kids had a fun time. Caroline and I spent the rest of the evening with our usual cartoon night.
Peter’s plane was delayed so he got back a bit later than he was expecting. We took her to see Planet 51. She loved it. There were a lot of jokes that were aimed at her but a lot of the film was crafted for those of us who have seen one too many Science Fiction films. The in-jokes were fast and furious and I am not sure if I got them all. Peter and I both agree that it is a quite nice popcorn flick that makes you pay attention if you want to get everything. Afterwards we took her to Friendly’s for lunch. A nice fellow patron gave us a coupon she couldn’t use so we save money on our meal.
Sunday Caroline had a play-date with her BFF. Afterwards Peter took both girls bowling. They had a great time. So Caroline had a very fun and full weekend.
I did watch some football this weekend. I feel sorry for Notre Dame players right now. They know what they did and didn’t do on Saturday. Georgia Tech won and Ohio State won so I am happy. Tech’s next game is against Georgia and it going to be shown on ESPN as a major game this coming weekend.
In the NFL I watched the Jets lose and the Giants win. The Giants vs. the Falcon’s game was a thrill ride of a game that kept my interest. The Jets did it to themselves. The picks killed them but it is a young quarterback however that excuse only goes so far. I guess they will continue to break their fans hearts well into the next century. The Saints pounded the Bucs and the Colts squeaked by the Ravens to keep the undefeated streak going.
I tried to watch a basketball game the other day and just couldn’t. I guess I’ll wait until March to try again.
I have had a rather thumping headache for two days now. So far I haven’t found anything that is getting it to go away or at least down to a dull roar. Doesn’t feel like sinuses but I am going to try so Sudafed to see if I have some pressure I don’t know that I have.
Tonight is the annual SFWA holiday party. I am 50/50 about going. It will depend on my headache I think.
I am grateful that Caroline had such a splendid weekend.
