I wish all the fathers who read this web log a very Happy Father's Day!

And a special Happy Father's Day to My Da and My Husband.

Both men are, to me, fine example of fatherhood. Both are involved in what is going on in their children's lives. Both teach by action along with word. They are good example to their children of how to deal with the world around them. They love their children very much and show this in many ways to their children.

When I was a kid, during the summer, we had one day to go into work with dad. I can remember how exciting it was to do so. We hung around his office, sat in the back of the classroom while he taught, drew all kinds of things on his chalkboard in his office, and played on the computer. It was such a privilege and fun to spend time with just dad.

I remember my parents taking us to various museums when we went on trips and to exhibits at the High Museum in Atlanta. I honestly don't know who was more excited to go to the Air and Space Museum in Washington, me or my Da. It was from those visits that I gained my appreciating for art. I will always remember the Calder exhibit at the High Museum. They had the Calder circus all set up along with a video of Calder performing with his circus. It was magical to me and my brothers and sister at the time.

I remember our beach vacations. We had set things that we would do each day which made it relaxing because we knew was for dinner each day and what activities there were on the docket. My father was the better swimmer so he would go out into the waves with us to allow us to "surf" back into the beach. He played with each of his children on the beach and just seemed to enjoy being with us.

Peter and I share a love for all things Disney and he has gotten to share his favorite rides with Caroline. She loves the Peter Pan ride and he took her on it for the first time when she had just turned two. He will always remember her slight confusing at the beginning of the ride and then her sheer joy as she tried to touch the moon. And she remembers that to this day. We have also taken Caroline to lots of museums and zoos and aquariums which she has enjoyed.

Most of our vacations involve conventions but Peter makes time for his family at these functions. When we are at the Hunt Valley Inn, he makes sure to go swimming with Caroline as he did for Ariel before she could swim on her own. We have at least one meal that is just the family.

At home, Peter reads to his children. He settles down with Caroline and a book as he did with his other daughters and proceeds to read to them. I watch Peter and flashback to my father reading to me. One of my favorite books to this day is "Wind in the Willows" because I can still remember my father reading it to me. Reading has always been important to me, which was instilled by my parents in me. Peter is doing the same for his children.

When I was a child, my father and I would sit down on Saturday morning and watch cartoon together. We watched the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner show; George of the Jungle; and others. Now we have cartoon night on Friday nights where we watch all kinds of cartoons, including the original George of the Jungle and the Warner Brother's cartoons, and Caroline sits in her father's lap.

Today I am not feeling very well which stinks. Peter is going to take Caroline to her favorite indoor playground since rains continue outside and he is going to take Ariel to see "Year One" later this afternoon while Caroline and I finish cleaning her room which is her Father's Day present to her Daddy.

I am grateful that I have both my Father and my Husband in my life.
