Both the Jets and the Giants won some rather ugly games this weekend. The Titans keep their streak going. Atlanta slammed the Raiders. And tonight the Redskins go up against the Steelers with both presidential candidates talking during half-time. There were a lot of good games this weekend with teams showing a lot of heart.

So the Jets are in a three way tie for first place in their division with the Pats and the Bills. If the Bills had won then they would have had first to themselves but the Jets prevailed and now the brass ring is up for grabs. And yes I have been hearing the Pats fans playing a million games of what if but the facts as the currently stand is that this is the first year in a while where there is real competition in that division. And honestly that Jets/Bills game seemed more who wanted to give it away more than who wanted to win it. There were all kinds of errors on both sides and from the refs as well.

Then there were the Giants. That game was a mess. Thank goodness for the Giants Defense because that is the only reason they won. The offense was offending me by the end of the first quarter. And the refs did get the calls right. There was the one that they couldn’t see but they corrected that. It was a hard fought game on both sides. The Cowboys tried but just couldn’t get things going on the offense until the 3rd quarter. The Giants were lucky that they didn’t get it together in the first or this might be a different entry.

The Falcons have already won more games this year than they did all of last year. And the Raiders continue to lose in spectacular fashion. The Titalns held on in OT and manged to win the games. The Packers did have their chances to make sure it didn’t go to OT but they just couldn’t get it done. Turnovers killed the Pats. The Colts pulled this one through on the power of the kick rather than running it over the goal like.

College Ball was pretty good this weekend. Tebow was poety in motion during the Bulldog/Gators game. I think he had a pretty bright future in the NFL if he wants it and keeps injury free. I pity the couching staff at Notre Dame. They are caught between a rock and a very hard place with no way out. Those fans and supporters demand wins and this team just can’t seem to get it together. And Georgia Tech is turning into the little engineers that could. (Yes, I do have a Ga Tech bias). I am going to be keeping an eye on the Yale /Brown game next week.

So what sports teams do you have your eye on?

I am grateful that I was able to watch as much football as I did this weekend.

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.
