I have found that the mood that Caroline wakes up in tends to dictate how her day is going to go. Happy Caroline who is all smiles and hugs means that she is going to have a happy and fun day. When Quarrelsome Caroline shows up the day can go one of two ways. She either is a handful all day or something happens and her mood improves greatly. So far this morning we have had complaints about her breakfast, the cats, her toys, and a couple of other subjects. But right now she has her head rested against my leg and is calm so maybe I'll get the flip and she'll be in a better mood. Personally I think she didn't get enough sleep.

Happy Thirtieth Birthday to Louise Brown. She was the first "test tube" baby. I can remember the controversy that was going on at the time of her birth 30 years ago. It raised all kinds of issues on all sides. But her birth was the beginning of the possibility of children for couples that thought they would never have any. A lot has changed in 30 years. About 1% of the children born today started in a petri-dish.

The weather is quite nice this morning. I have windows open and the house airing out before it heats up today. My lawn looks much happier than it did last week. Heck, I might have to mow it this week.

I need to go open a window for Treat in the office and check his food and water once I post this. He keeps coming up to the door and asking to be paid attention to. This when people are downstairs with him. I have come to realize that he wants my attention for a bit. So I sit on the steps and give him a good pet. He has adjusted to his move very well. Caroline loves having him in the basement and goes to visit him.

I think I see laundry in my future today. Might have something to do with the pile of clothes in the hall that aren't fitting in the hamper. One of the things I love about owning a washer and a dryer is that I can put in a load and then go off and do something else while it is going. The only advantage to a Laundromat is that you can do all your laundry (given enough washers and dryers) in a short amount of time. But I like being able to do laundry when I want rather than having to schedule it.

Tonight is the Doctor Who episode "The Stolen Earth". I am looking forward to your opinions, comments, screams after I post my NWR tonight/tomorrow. Please do remember that we will be discussing only that episode and Journey's End is next week (I think).

A number of people have asked me when and where ending each entry with "I'm grateful" is from. It started back in August of 2004 (the 12th to be precise). I can't remember who started it because I don't name them by name. I just noted that I had seen it on another web log and thought it was an interesting idea. I have been keeping it up pretty much since then. It was just a nice way of looking at my life and finding those things that I take for granted and making myself think about them for a couple of minutes.

Off to sort whites from darks.

Have a good day y'all.

I am grateful for my washer and dryer.
