Today is all about getting ready for tomorrow. I have a bunch of comics to sort to get ready for the great comic book give away we have on Halloween. I also have to go to get the rest of the boxes out of storage. Yeah, we are going to need that many comics. Our street is very popular for trick or treaters. I also need to put up the graveyard which I haven't done yet.

A few things that have come up in comments that I want to comment on in the past few days.

As to NaNoWriMo, I am still waffling between three ideas. I have a feeling that I know which one is going to come forward but I know which one I think I need to work on to get it done. Cryptic I know, but that's my brain at work. Also I am unsure if I am going to post any of what I am writing this time like I have in previous years.

As to my rant on copying. There was a question about patterns that came up and if you use pieces of several patterns to make something then are you swiping? I figure that if the workmanship judge asked if one used a pattern for the costume the answer would be yes, several which might get you points for cleverness to put them all together to get the effect you want. I always sort out which patterns I use that I used part of another pattern and which I had to do from scratch.

There was no legal recourse for the photographer and they knew that. It was a moral character question. Where it gets all the funnier, in a sick way, is that the swiper is in a number of groups who hunt down people who copy other people's stuff and call it their own and yells at them for swiping the other artist's work. Guess photos don't count. And Please if you have figured out what I am talking about don't dogpile on the offending artist. They have been chastised enough by other people much closer to all parties involved and the photographer has sorted it out with them to a reasonable conclusion.

It is nice to know that in person Rosie is as cool as she appears on TV.

Other Stuff that Comes to Mind

Yeah, I'm still behind on my dolls and feeling rather bad about being a bottle-neck. After we are done with UFC, I plan to get all those finished and move onto my next project. I have a couple of things I want to make. Including something I want to get done by next Halloween.

Caroline has become a big fan of Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother. I think she sees Hannah as herself or a little girl just like her. We ran across the first Scary Godmother cartoon the other night and Caroline was enchanted with the whole thing. I told her that the cartoon was based on a comic book which she insisted that I find for her. We searched the bookshelves and I came up with 3 out of 5 graphic novels which she has been reading. After we read through the first book together, she informed me she wanted puppets of the Scary Godmother and Hannah and asked if I could make them. There are a lot of good characters in there so I think I might be making a Scary Godmother set for my own personal use. Through a mutual friend, I got in touch with Jill and told her about her new fan.

Bowling went OK last night. My first game was pretty bad but I made it up with two good games. It uses to be enough for one of us to be "on" to win games but now it is apparent that two of us need to be better than our average to win.

I think that Yankees made the right decision for their next manager. They needed someone with experience with being a manager and with the Yankee organization. The sports pundits are speculating where A-Rod is going to land since they figure his manager already has a deal in place somewhere to pull the World Series stunt. I do love to listen to sports radio which is a guilty pleasure for me.

Off to start the comic book sort. Hope y'all have a good day.

I am grateful that we have comics to give away.
