Caroline and the Carnival
Jun. 9th, 2007 08:27 amIt is summer here on Long Island which means that we will have lots of little fairs and events all over the island with the kiddie rides. On a whim, we took the family to one of these things and Caroline had a blast. She started slow with the carousel, which she rode a couple of times. She then went for the slightly faster little boat ride and then the obstacle course for kids in which she had to push her way through a bunch of sandbags, slither through a tube to the ball pit, cross the ball pit, climb up a cargo net to the second level, cross a swinging bridge, and then plunge down a long slide. First time she spent time in the ball pit and then worked her way up the cargo net slowly. But by the third time she was a champ at the cargo net. Her finally ride was this bouncy slide that she had to work her way up one side to slide down the other. Peter lost count at 25 as the number of times that she did it. We brought her home and gave her a bath. She quickly fell asleep.
She also had her first swimming lesson. We have been talking about getting her swimming lessons for a while. She is around enough pools and oceans that it would be a good thing for her to know how to do. Peter found someone who can teach her while he is at his gym which has a pool. They are certified and all that and had some really good recommendations. Caroline did pretty well for her first lesson. The only thing she didn't do was let go of her floatie and the teacher said that would come with time. She did very well at the kicking part of the program and did listen to and follow the teacher's instructions.
Over all she had a very active Caroline day. Today we are off to visit her cousins for her cousin's 6th birthday party (I know where does the time go). She has been looking forward to this all week.
I am grateful that Caroline had so much fun yesterday.
