I have been thinking about Caroline's formative years and how there are things different in her life than that of her peers. There are a number of things that she finds perfectly normal and for her that is the way that life. Here are 5 off the top of my head
1) Mommy and Daddy work out of the house so she always has both of us around for the most part. She assumed this was norm but she is starting to realize that this is not a regular situation because of her friend whose mommy and daddy leave the house to go to work. I am glad that she has had this situation because she has a close relationship to both of us.
2)Having Oobie eyes (aka Puppet Eye Balls) all over the house is normal. She finds them around and plays with them. Then puts them down and I find them later or the cats turn them into cat toys. She is pretty good with them too.
3)She knows what Daleks, Cybermen, and the TARDIS is. She also understands that the Doctor changes faces. She runs around the house with my sonic screwdriver "fixing" things. Also she was our Doctor Who (Doctor Cindy Lou Who) in our Grinch/Dr. Who cross-over sketch. She loves it when we sit down as a family to watch the new episodes of Doctor Who.
4) Going to a hotel and staying a couple of days for a convention is normal for her. She actually expects that we are going to do that every weekend. She knows how to behave at a convention and she is learning not to run on stage when Daddy is up there talking. She also loves being in the Masquerade. Now when she was younger we did use her as a warm body in our sketches. Now she just wants to be in them because for her that is a normal thing to do at certain conventions. She also knows her way around the Hunt Valley Inn.
5) Puppets are supposes to take over the house. She loves to play with the puppets I build. Puppetry is just a part of her life and she doesn't understand when another kids act scared of them. She loves the Muppets and the Sesame Street Monsters along with the movie "Nightmare before Christmas". She and I sat down and watched a couple of Captain Scarlet episodes the other day and I explained marionettes to her and showed her some of my books on the subject. She spent the rest of the afternoon pouring over those books and pointing out her favorites to me.
