Music of the Night
Jan. 5th, 2007 09:36 amAriel is off to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway for the first time. I saw it several times with the original cast oh so many years a go. Sometimes from the audience point of view and a couple of times observing the Stage Manager calling the show while I was up at Yale. You think it looks impressive onstage, you should see the dance that goes on backstage to get the sets, actors, and props safely on and off.
Caroline has combined her ponies (especially the news one she got in her stocking this year), her dinosaurs, and her animals she got with her Diego toys into a little town of critters. She tells stories with the various animals as she goes through the town. Right now she is setting everyone up to listen to a concert to be given by the triceratops family. Her imagination is boundless.
I got a few more things done yesterday but couldn't match my morning efforts. I seem to do best in the AM for various activities including writing. I feel like I am pushing my brain in the afternoon to get ideas flowing. If needed I can do it, but I tend to put my mindless tasks when my mind is slower so I don't have to think too hard.
So far I managed to keep up with most of what I wanted to do this year but then it is only the 5th of the month (which means that Caroline is 4 years and 1 month old but I digress). The next week is going to be very telling.
I find it fun to listen to sports radio and hear the fans rant and rave about their teams. It is one of my guilty pleasures. I can remember when the Yankee fans were dizzy with anticipation for Randy 'The Big Unit' Johnston to pitch for them. They crowed at the acquisition and poo-poo'd those who pointed out everything that might be wrong with the trade. NO! they screamed, Best Trade Ever! Well now those same fans are now doing the happy dance because the Yankees managed to trade out the Big Unit. Now the fun thing is the exact same fans who were saying that the original trade was good for the team have changed their tune but their memory is very selective since they always said that obtaining the BU was a bad idea. Funny that.
I am grateful for getting things done in order.
