A Rather Mundane Entry
Jan. 2nd, 2007 10:22 amNew Years Day was sedate partial due to the weather since it was very wet and windy and partial due to this book that Peter is trying to finish and get to his editor. Caroline set up all her dinosaurs and ponies in the middle of the living room and they had an adventure that had something to do with her castle and the pirate ship. Ariel slept in and watched the Rose Parade with me when she finally got up. Then it was a quiet day of reading and gaming for her.
I got some stuff done that I wanted. I did get the pictures downloaded off the old camera and am starting to get the hang of the new one. I have come to the conclusion that I need to winnow down my collection of photos in I-photo since it have over 5000 images and is slowing down to a snail's pace. I have most of them burned onto a disk. I'm still sorting out in my head how I am going to get that done.
The Tournament of Roses Parade was really nice this year. The theme was nature and all the animals that were represented on the floats enchanted Caroline. Those floats are amazing! I know I know some of the Star Wars costumers that walked with the parade. They looked like they were having a blast. The 501st never looked better. I'm betting that LFL gave them something cool for their participation. Fandom at its finest.
So this year is the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. Wow, I don't really feel old since I was a teenager when it came out. I know all my siblings were old enough at the time to remember seeing it in the theater which is something that Caroline might not get a chance to do. I know she won't see the films as they were originally cut except on DVD. Star Wars has been very good to me over the years and I am glad that I can say that I participated in the making of the books.
This afternoon I think I am going to sit down with Caroline and watch the DVD of Jon Ludwig's Dinosaurs that is being performed at the Center for Puppetry Arts this spring. I saw the original production oh so many moons ago. I think she is going to like it.
I am grateful for websites that help me figure out things.
