Digging in the Dirt
Dec. 16th, 2006 09:59 amThere is a new TV series that will have the Nip/Tuck slot on the FX network called Dirt about a tabloid editor named Lucy Spiller (how is that for a Dickens name?) played by Courtney Cox who will do anything to score a story and the money. They have been using Peter Gabriel's "Digging in the Dirt" as the promo music for the show. Peter and I have it on our list of shows to check out for a number of reasons.
This all came to mind when I read that Judith Regan of Regan Books has been shown the door by Harper Collins. Once the editor that could do no wrong (but did do a lot of sleazy books) for Rupert Murdock, she finally did something that could not be forgiven even by Murdock (which is saying a bit). She was the editor who had the bright idea for the O.J. book entitled "How I did it". The s**t storm that showed up after that was announced along with a prime time special left everyone who had anything to do with it unclean. Apparently there are limits of what people will tolerate in terms of sensationalism and there are still lines that cannot be crossed. Which gives me hope for humanity in general. I am sure after a while Ms. Regan will land on her feet given her past history but right now she is probably trying to figure out who's fault all this is because she honestly believes that it is not hers.
I am grateful that OJ can't profit more off of this than he has so far.
