Dear Caroline,

I really don't know if you are ever going to read this. Part of me hopes that eventually you do and part of me wonders what you are going to think when you read all this that many other people have read since it was part of my web log. I'm betting you are not going to be too happy about the discussions of your potty training but then I can always point to the issue of Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman where your father talks about having to sing the pee song after you went. *grin*

We had your birthday party on Sunday even though today is your birthday. It just worked out better with everyone's schedule. I believe you had a lot of fun. Something about how I watched you have fun that tipped me off.

Your cousins Sara and Emma came over on Saturday with your Aunt Beth. You were all excited about having your first sleepover. I didn't know that you knew the word sleepover and what it meant but you explained your version of the concept and you knew what you were talking about. The three of you spend the evening playing, eating chicken nuggets and fries, and watching The Little Mermaid. We did try to let you all sleep together but ended up separating the group so the adults could get some sleep.

Sunday morning I made pancakes for the group from your Grandma's recipe. All the little girls declared them great and munched them all up. As I tried to keep the house in order and get ready for the party, you and your cousins did what all little girls between the ages of 3 1/2 and 5 do, you ran around giggled and screamed. Our housekeeper came and helped me get the house in shape for the party and she wished you a happy birthday. One of her daughter's has the same birthday as does Debbie (Alyssa's mom) and Walt Disney.

Katie, who lives across the street, came to the party with her parents. Once she was here, the two of you stuck together. You played with your ponies, painting large watercolors together, and played with your dinosaur stamps. Sara and Emma drifted in and out of that group and they also played with my friend Steve.

Meanwhile your sister Ariel convinced her friend Elisa, your aunt Beth and my friend Mary Aileen to participate in an experiment to see if bread really does land butter side down when you drop it. So with a couple pieces of bread, some butter and a knife they went outside to see what they could learn only to come in and find that they did the experiment wrong so they got some more bread and did it again. Their conclusions are the same that the Myth Busters got.

We then did presents and you received a lot of cool stuff. Most of it was pony themed or Disney Princess but you loved each and every piece of it. Then you got the toy you have been asking me for since September which you called "walkie pony". We set it up and showed you how it worked and you were really not sure of it. I think your exact words were that you were "scared" of it. Well you will be happy to know that as of your birthday, you no longer are. You have been playing with it as long as I have been typing this entry.

I got your Grandma and Pop-pop on the computer in the kitchen and then took you in (with walkie pony) to talk to them for a minute before I summoned everyone else for cake and singing. We sang you Happy Birthday and you blew out the candles. The cake was distributed and enjoyed by all. The adults talked and the kids played with your new toys. A fun time was had by all.

Now today we have a few things planned for you including lunch at one of your favorite places, the rest of the cake, and a few more presents. I am hoping that you have a good one.

Here are a few random things that are true about you on your fourth natal day. )

You are a happy health little girl and I am so grateful for that.

I am grateful that I have this wonderful person in my life. Right now I can't imagine my life without her.
