Well fall is showing its winter coat (or lack thereof) as the temperature dropped and made the heat come on for the first time since the end of Spring.
No computer box and it has been two business days so I am not happy at all about that. *sigh*
Doctor Who tonight is again my favorite of the bunch but Sarah Jane was one of my first companions. I’ll try to get a New Who Review up tomorrow for it.
I bought a book by an author whose work I have enjoyed over the years. It seemed a little thin for them but I was glad to have something else to read that they had written. I slogged to the end and came to the conclusion that it would have been a great short story or a good novella but there was not enough there to stretch it to novel length. I have a feeling that this was one of those "The book is due to the editor (well now overdue), we have bills to pay (sorry authors have to use that pesky money to live just like anyone else in our modern economy) and the editor did a rush job to get it out (or didn’t even do a line edit which it desperately needed OR [and I think the more likely] the author didn’t take the editor’ notes) along with the publisher howling that it had to be out by a certain date" kind of books. Like I said there was a great short story among the excess verbiage.
Peter and I sat down with the list of things that he needs to write by Spring. I am not seeing him again until Christmas except for the gym, bowling and meals. We both agree that it sure as heck beats the alternative and we are counting each and every project a blessing. We also know that he can work at this pace without breaking sweat. I’ll just be taking care of some more things that we had split duties on for a while.
I have a couple of projects including sorting out how many Boots costumes I can do in 2 weeks. For anyone who e-mail me about it I should be getting back to you either today or at the latest tomorrow. Then it is onto the next big costume (which is currently one of two so I am waiting to find out which it will be).
Caroline’s illness got better and then she got worse. This morning she is running a low fever and sniffing. Her little hands are so cold. I have her bundled up on the couch watching Sesame Street to warm up a bit. I can’t tell if this a continuation of this thing she had or a new bug that she picked up. She is not in terrible distress so we are holding off on the Doctor unless she takes a turn for the worse. She just needs lots of hugs, cuddles, and chicken soup. We have been doing a lot of stuff together.
I was glad to read the study on playtime just unorganized play is one of the best things you can do for your kids when they are young. We put her in situations where she has to interact with other children so she can work on her social skills but we also give her a bunch of toys and let her decide what the blocks are going to be. We work on letters and numbers but I don't have specific time planned out for it. I seen some of these over scheduled children and they don't seem the happiest kids. A couple of them remind me of performing seals. Now I know that this sort of structure is good for some and there are kids that thrive on it. I also know that mine is not one of them so why force her into it before she has to.
I am grateful for the time I have with Caroline even when she is driving me crazy.
