Clarification about yesterday's post since I apparently rubbed some people the wrong way which I didn't mean to do (and they were kind enough to tell me off list). I am NOT telling anyone how to think or feel about yesterday. I would never do so. I was expressing how I feel about it. Everyone has to deal with it (or not) in their own way in their own time.

OK let's rewind Sunday.

Sunday and the Renaissance Faire
Peter and I let Ariel bring a friend along and this year it was no exception. They usually sleep over the night before. We informed the girls that we would be leaving early and of course they were still giggling and talking after midnight. I do give them both credit that they got up and got moving so we could leave by 8:30. The drive to the Faire was fine and we got there about 10:20, which is not bad considering some of the pockets of traffic we had to maneuver.

Peter dressed up as Tim the Enchanter. We brought along our killer bunny puppet which fit nicely onto his snake staff giving the costume a completeness that could only be found by serendipity. His picture was taken by quite a few people during the day. Caroline wore her Cinderella Dress. Ariel constructed a gypsy type outfit out of costuming pieces we had around here. Her friend had a very nice outfit with some lovely chain-mail jewelry which suited her very well. The girls wanted to see if they could find either corsets or bodices that they liked to buy. This Faire is the right place to shop for that. I wore my Pirates of the Caribbean football jersey and our Captain Jack hat. (Yeah I was the stick in the mud this year but I couldn't figure out what to wear)

We let Ariel and friend loose on the faire with a cell phone if we need to get in touch with them. We agreed to meet for lunch at noon at the main food court. Peter and I then took Caroline to the one place I really wanted to take her since she showed a great interest in horses, the pony ride. At first all she wanted to do was pet the ponies but I finally picked her up and put her on the one she seem to like best. The handler asked if I felt that I needed to hold onto her. I looked at Caroline who is perfectly balanced on the pony and grinning ear to ear and said that I would go around once with them to make sure. I really didn't need to since her sense of balance is so good. She insisted in riding each pony once before we took her over to the petting zoo. Caroline was in animal heaven.

Peter and I wandered around some more with Princess Caroline in her carriage (her stroller) enjoying the sights and sounds of the Faire. We rejoined the girls for lunch and had our usual once a year potato chip thingy. Peter and I went for the shortest line for food since a lot of people were getting food at that time. I forgot my ID so my husband being the wonderful man that he is bought for me. I was scared that I had tossed my driver's license with my plane ticket stubs from the other day so I was a bit worried the rest of the day. I found it at home the next morning so that's OK.

Caroline participated in the costume call they have for the kids. Ariel and her friend found corsets that they really liked but were out of their price range by quite a bit. They continued the search but came to the conclusion that they were not going to find what they wanted at a price they could afford. Peter waited with Caroline towards the gate as I did a quick once through the faire to see what I missed. Caroline fell asleep on the way to the car. We hit one small pocket of traffic on the way home but it was a good thing that we went when we did since that became a traffic jam of the long wait shortly after we had gotten by. A good time was had by all I think.

I am grateful that we all had fun this year and that I found my ID at home safe.
