I use to be good at time managment
Jul. 20th, 2006 09:02 amIt’s the usual chant. Got not as much done as I would like but more than I thought I was going to considering the circumstances.
I miss my laptop. I sent it off to ComicCon with Peter so he could get some work done and be able to e-mail it. I’ll see it next week. You get use to a computer if you use it a lot. It has its own idiosyncrasies and habits that you are use to. I have all my web-bookmakers in the web browser. I can check my e-mail quickly. But this is a case of the greater good and Peter needed it more than I. I can catch up on stuff that I don’t get to when I am on his computer.
So today I am going to try an old trick I use to do but this time I include Caroline in the mix. I use to be able to time manage beautifully. It was one of many things that made me such a great stage manager. I learned the hard way that if you set a time limit on a task that you don’t want to do and then another time limit for a task you do want to do then you can get both done. Do the thing you don’t want to first and reward yourself with the second. Where this can fall down is if the task becomes longer than the time you have allotted to it. That is something that you learn over time how to do. This can be in as small as 15 minute increments if need be but be realistic about what your goals are. I have one errand that I have to run outside the house but the rest of the stuff is here in the house which makes it easier to manage. I just have to reset my stage management brain back to on and I can get done all I need to finish before we leave Saturday.
Caroline has figured out that people, including her, go away on short and long trips but they come back home. She was a little upset that her Daddy and Ariel got out at the airport but she knows that she can talk to them on the phone if she wants and that she will be seeing them soon. She even told her little buddy Katie that Daddy and Ariel are on a trip along with other information of what she had done since last seeing Katie. Her grasp of the world is pretty firm. She even has a bit of a time sense in terms of days vs. hours. I can explain to her how many night times(bed times) before she does something and she understands it. This morning she told me that she was seeing her Grandparents in two night times and she was going to play in the pool when she saw them.
Her imagination is fun to listen to as well. She makes up stories still about her toys and their adventures. She has them help one and other as they achieve a goal. She loves to play with the Fluzzies. She had one on each arm and they were having a conversation.
In terms of a puppet update. I have cut out all the foam I need for the Doctors and all the mouths I need for all the puppets. I want to have all the fabric for the basic bodies cut by the end of today. I am looking for good sites with cheap doll wigs that will fit my puppet heads which are about as big as a cabbage patch kid head.
I am grateful that Ariel seems to be having a blast at ComicCon.
