Father's Day 2006
Jun. 18th, 2006 08:16 amFirst I would like to wish all the fathers that read my blog a very Happy Father's day including me own Da.
Father's Day is not as old as Mother's day but how it came to be is about the same. The official day (3rd Sunday in June) was signed into law by Richard Nixon in 1972 although a Joint Resolution of Congress first recognized it in 1956. Restaurants do a pretty brisk business but not as much as Mother's Day. Letting Dad grill dinner seems to be the big thing to do. Grilling is a big deal to men apparently.
We plan to let Peter sleep in which is another thing a lot of Fathers get to do on this day and I have lunch and dinner planned that he wanted. His big present we did Wednesday when we went to see Lil' Abner at Goodspeed. Other than that we really don't have much planned since he needs to get a couple of writing projects done by the end of the month if not sooner. I'm betting we are going to do something else today but I don't know what yet. Peter and I will be calling our fathers and hope that the lines aren't too jammed. I am hoping that we can do an iSight visit with my parents today as long as the integrity of the DSL line is good. With school almost over the number of people on the computer on the Internet increases and my speed slows down a bit to a lot depending on the time of day.
Ariel has one more exam and then she is done for the year. She is busy studying her notes and a number of hand-outs that the teacher gave her to study from. That is all they have since they had to turn in their books last week.
I want to try to get one thing done today on the creative side.
I am grateful that my husband is such a wonderful Father.
