the Past Few Days
Mar. 10th, 2006 09:43 amLast night Peter, Gwen and I went to Ariel's Spring Pops concert. Now over the years these things had been about 90 minutes and out. There were more of them per year. Because of lack of budget the concerts are being consolidated so that the chorus that would have its own concert joins in with the one last night. It started late due to some political words that must be said when everyone is sitting down and then ran for over 2 1/2 hours. Some of the groups were good and some were not. Ariel did very well with her part in the "West Side Story" Medley. We made it through the experience. Caroline was being babysat by a neighbor at her house. She has a dog and Caroline was in puppy heaven. Caroline and the dog played most of the night together. She fell asleep on the way home in her car seat which wasn't that far.
The night before we attended the awards dinner for Ariel's high school bowling league. The buffet was very tasty and the company was good. It was parents we have gotten to know during the high school team's bowling season. The awards went on and on and on. Ariel did well for herself. She came in 12th in average during a single/doubles tournament they have every year so she received a medal for that. She and her bowling partner Kat won 2nd in the double half of the tournament. Each member of her team received a plaque for coming in first in their division and a medal for coming in 3rd in the county tournament. So she walked out of her first year on the high school team with two medals around her neck and two plaques under her arm. That one started at 6:30 and was done about 10:20. I took pictures that I will try to post later. We left Caroline at home with one of her favorite babysitters.
I am on to my next project now. A python puppet. I have the skin and have started to build the head which I want to put a trigger in so it will open and close. I need a few pieces to complete the project but I will get it done in time for when I need it. Then there is my wacky art idea for the art show that I want to complete. After LunaCon I have a week to make a set of Sytherin robes and repair Ariel's Gryffindor robes. I need to go to the fabric store among other places today.
I am grateful that Caroline doesn't have problems with me leaving her with a babysitter.
