In which on a whim our intrepid adventurers take Miss Caroline to view the Disney Princesses on Ice and what followed
It was the last day of the Disney Princesses on Ice show at the location on Long Island. We hopped into the car and drove to the venue without knowing if we could get tickets or not. If we couldn't, then we had a back up plan of the Bronx Zoo since the weather was shaping up to be so nice. As we approached the line of cars to get into the parking lot seem to indicate that we would be arriving at the parking lot about the time that the show would be starting. I hopped out of the car and went to the box office to see if there were tickets still available. There were good seats left at a reasonable price. After I purchased the tickets I went to see if the rest of my family had made it into the parking lot. Low and behold I saw them walking towards me.
We got to our seats in plenty of time. Caroline sat down and proceeded to play with her little princess dolls and flying ponies until the show started. Peter got her a program to look at and one of those Disney Spinning Light-Up Globes with the Princesses on the handle. Caroline took to spinning the globe and looking at the light. (I had an odd flashback on going to Ringling Brothers with my parents and my parents buying me a wand that lit up blue that I love and played with almost constantly until it was broken by accident.) She then processed to watch the first act and identified each Princess as she came out. The only two she had trouble with and she asked me who they were which where Mulan and Jasmine. Which made sense since she has seen Mulan and Aladdin possibly once if that. She would point out the princess picture on her spinning globe as the princess came on. We got to the end of Snow White and the thing with the apple and the witch didn't go over well. Peter had to take her out to catch her breath while the first act concluded.
The second Act was mostly the story of Cinderella which is her current favorite Disney Movie. She watched for a while but was showing signs of fatigue. Peter and I looked at each other and decided to ask her if she wanted to go home. Ariel didn't really have a problem with this since they had already done the entire Little Mermaid sequence. I asked Caroline if she wanted to go home now. She nodded and started to gather her things. We left just as they were opening the gates to let cars out the easy way back to the highway. Caroline was asleep in her seat within about five minutes if that.
I took Ariel to a new chain restaurant called "Smoky Bones" while Peter and Caroline napped in the car. (Peter has been up late working on his Battlestar Galactica novel). We got back to the car to find Caroline still asleep. We came home and she woke up as we got out of the car. I asked her if she enjoyed watching the Princesses and she smiled a big smile and nodded. She spent time that afternoon flipping through her program book and playing with her globe.
So now it is Seahawks vs. Steelers. Tell me why I shouldn't pick you team to win since my record for the playoffs was 1-9. The Steelers ran all over the Broncos yesterday. It wasn't that the Broncos weren't trying but the Steelers weren't letting them try. And what is with the officiating this season? I have seen more bad calls then I can remember. I didn't see the other game.
I am grateful we took the chance and Caroline saw her second ice show.
