Everyone comes to Rick's Place
Dec. 27th, 2005 08:47 amWe are getting ready for the return trip home. Today is packing, relaxing and driving. I am hoping that Caroline doesn't take a nap this afternoon since then she will sleep that much better in the car. So no lap of nappiness for her today.
Yesterday was a pretty relaxed day. We got up late to catch up on some missed sleep from Christmas Eve into Christmas. Peter worked on finishing one of his projects which he did. I took Peter and Ariel to Everybody's Pizza where they both got exactly what they wanted on their pizza. Caroline fell asleep while watching the credits for Casablanca which Turner Classic Movies was showing followed by the 1933 King Kong. We had a very nice dinner with my folks and sister Sheila. After we got back to the hotel, I went off with two old friends to catch up on about 2 years worth of news while Peter took point on Munchkin Patrol.
I have known Jeff & Angelo for almost 20 years. We met over a bottle of spirit gum at a Kubla Khan. They had entered the costume contest and I had volunteered to be a runner for the contest. Angelo's beard was coming off and I helped him get it back on since both of them were covered in body paint. We got to talking about all kinds of things. We then ran into each other at a Dixie Trek and from there a friendship was forged. They have a love of Broadway and movies that matches my own. Through good times and bad we have been there for each other. Their wedding present to me was to cater my wedding which my mother and I really appreciated. There are gaps of when we talk to each other. Schedule and distance can be a pain but when we get back together things snap back into place and we talk about everything under the sun. It is one of those comfortable friendships that I treasure a lot. I think I can count the number I have had and still have on the fingers of both hands.
