It is amazing how much a good nights sleep can make you feel better and a bad nights sleep can leave you feeling like a rung out dishrag. I am feeling a lot like that dishrag this morning. On the plus side, I do see a yellow ball that gives heat and light in the sky for the first time in a while. I think we are done with the rain for a day or so. The wind is still whipping around. I keep telling myself that the lawn does look better and we need the rain.

So how was the end of that game last night? I fell asleep in the middle of the tenth. I found out this morning that the White Soxs won in the 14th in a game that lasted almost 6 hours which is a new record. From what I saw of it, the game seemed to be a bunch of missed opportunities on both sides but especially the Astros. They had men in scoring position a number of times but failed to get them around.

My sympathies to Mr. Mara's family and the Giants organization for their loss. Someone I know had dealing with both Mr. Mara and the Giants and the words he tended to use was gratuitous and friendly. Mr. Mara had some chances to make more money off his football franchise but instead thought of the NFL as a whole and what was better for all the teams rather than just his. Class act who will be missed. He did get to see the end of the Giants/Broncos game which was really worth seeing.

A friend of mine who is a fantastic doll maker and good person has had to deal with the fact that her son and a couple of her grandsons were over in Iraq and Afghanistan. None were stationed near the others but they communicated with each other and their folks at home via the internet and phone calls. She is offline for a while since her family has to deal with the body of her adopted grandson coming home after being killed by enemy fire. I support our troops whole heartily but the cost of the war in terms of human life keeps hitting pretty close to home and makes less sense each time someone dies military or civilian. I am not happy with this situation at all. Now we have hit 2000 American military deaths. This does not count the number of civilians killed. Many of these people are just trying to live their lives under very difficult circumstances which do not seem to be improving for anyone any time soon. I am sad for them.

I got the puppet done and so now it is onto decorating the house and costumes for the kids.

I am grateful for good neighbors.
