Monday Sports Update
Oct. 17th, 2005 09:37 amI think nap time is over. Caroline has taken to going to bed by 9ish and getting up about 9ish. There has been no nap during the day. That's fine. She'll be 3 in less than 2 months. Personally I am going to miss it but this one is about her and getting enough sleep.
The weather has turned colder and the winds have been brisk. I made a big dish of mac and cheese for dinner last night. I think I am going to make chili tonight. Heavy warm meals to transition into fall and winter. Caroline added Chicken Soup to the list of things she will eat.
Today I have to do a good food shop since I have only been doing pick-up shops since the show kicked into high gear. I also want to get as much of an Angel puppet done as possible in a day. So there are my goals for the day. Anything else I get done I will consider gravy.
Monday Sports
The White Soxs are going to the World Series after a good game with some splendid umpiring. The Angels really tried and kept it close until the ninth when if the pitcher had the ball in his glove not his hand it would have probably gone into extra innings. Astros won and are now one away from the World Series. Cardinals better wake up or they are going home to watch the final games from their plasma TV screens.
It was the Giants' game to lose. It really was. Dallas had 4 turnovers in the first half but the Giants returned the favor in the second half then lost it in overtime.
And for the Jets I have one simple concept that they need to get through their thick helmets which is DEFENSE! You're suppose to defend the quarterback not step back and let the other team have a go at him. The offence did what it was suppose to do and did not a bad job. Special teams looked fine but the minute the defense came onto the field the game fell apart for them. They are going to lose another quarterback if they are not more careful.
What about the Falcons and Saints game? I think that was the best one yesterday. Falcons win on the last play after a missed Field Goal that they got a second chance on because of holding. So the Colts are the only ones left with a perfect record. And what happened to the Vikings this year?
Chelsea seems to have English Football all wrapped up with a neat little bow. The top three are the top three of last year. The Manchester United fans are up in arms because the Yanks bought their team. British Football owned by an American well that's not....Well it's not British by George. It would be as if Sony bought the Yankees from Steinbrenner. The difference here is that the fans tried to buy the team when it went up for sale and lost out to Malcolm Glazer, who also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for absurd amounts of money.
Hockey started. I feel real sorry for the referees this season. The new rule-book looks like a phone book. All the rules have to be enforced if you know all the changes. It seems to be making for faster more exciting games with less contact which I believe was the goal.
Speaking of rule changes, the Mr. Olympia was held over this past weekend. According to the people who run it, there was going to be new rules about shape and definition to try to get people interested in the "sport" of bodybuilding again. They said they were looking for a more classic form rather than the bloat bellies and fake arms of the past. Part of it has to do with the dirty secret about those bellies and artificial help. Didn't happen this year either. The freaks out did the classic look again.The general public when asked to name a Bodybuilder are going to say Arnold. I am betting very few people reading this know who Ronnie Colman is or Chris Cormier or Jay Cutler. Weider is desperate to get Bodybuilding into the mainstream. He and his brother have been trying for years to get it as an Olympic sport. But the drugs and rumor of drugs has kept it out of the running and probably will for years to come.
