Caroline was mosquito bit the other day. Yesterday when I got her up I noticed 10 welts on her arms, legs, and tummy. They were bothering her a lot. She kept scratching and only stopped when I told her not too. I couldn't just put the cream on them because she might ingest it which would not be good. She came to me and pointed to one on her ankle and said “Boo-boo!”

I asked, “Do you want me to fix the boo-boo?” She nodded. I got Neosporin, hydrocortisone cream, and non-latex band-aids. I put the creams on the bug bites using the neosporin on those she had scratched open and then cover them with a band-aid. Then I gave that boo-boo a kiss and moved to the next. She then sat in my lap and had me kiss all her boo-boos again. That kept her from scratching them for most of the day. After dinner she started taking off all the band-aids. She had me kiss the boo-boos again. Poor little girl. We went outside to go to the car and the mosquitoes were swarming around us. I got bit but Caroline did not sustain any more damage. I think I am not letting her outside for a while without bug spray on her cloths.

After we thought New Orleans caught a break there was a break or two in the levy system and as predicted the town is under water. They have shut the town down and are trying to evacuate the last people there. Then there is Biloxi where it looks like most of the town is gone. There are a number of coastal towns that no longer exists as towns. The casinos took a hit too. If you can afford to there are a number of charities including the Red Cross that are helping these people. They need your help. I have heard or heard through the grapevine that just about everyone I know is safe although their property maybe no longer there. I am hoping that I hear from a couple more that I know are in Biloxi or I get word at DragonCon from some mutual friends that they are OK.

I remember after the events on the day of 9/11/01 that the computers and the internet were the only things working. Phone lines were down or tied up and the cell phone network was gone. I could e-mail people and I got an NPR feed off the website which told us about Washington. Again with this natural disaster, the internet is playing a large role in allowing people to communicate and let people know that they are OK. If someone does get a call out to someone the second person can put on the internet that they are OK. Yesterday I talked to my parents via the internet and they are in Poland. Didn’t cost us anymore than we had already paid for internet service. I really am grooving on the Internet today.

Lots to do and only a day to do it in. I have to find my puppet skin for Manamana and finish him. Purple Monster is still in pieces. Packing is also on my list but I can do that tomorrow morning before we leave. It is going to be very busy until next Tuesday and then there is Thursday the 8th which there is much happening. Meaning I will probably spend my birthday, which is the next day, asleep. More on both as they get closer.

I am grateful for news of my friends.
