Frank Millar's Sin City: A short review
Apr. 2nd, 2005 08:51 amPeter and I went to see this movie yesterday for various reasons including that Peter has known the creator for years. My short review, most faithful adaptation of a graphic novel I have seen so far.
If you like the graphic novels then this is the film for you.
If you didn't like them, then I can't recommend this movie to you.
If you haven't read the graphic novel, there is sex, nudity, cannibalism, torture, and lots of people die in horrible ways too painful to speak of (but for some they do give you the visuals).
I thought the graphic novel was OK, but took a long time to get anywhere. The visuals in the comic book were always stunning and they are translated to the screen picture to pixel. Some solid performances by some good actors if you are willing to go through a stomach churning 2 hours.
As Don Thompson once said "If this is the sort of thing you like, you're going to like it."
