Is there a Doctor in the Fish?*
Feb. 11th, 2005 08:36 amI manage to get things packed up and we got to my in-laws in pretty good time over-all. I did forget one big thing for the costume and one small thing. Both I think I can get from the Wal*Mart that is near the hotel.
Overall I am quite pleased as to how things turned out. I did better than I thought I could on one part of the costume. My mother-in-law helped me finish up the loose ends of another part. I need to burn the track we are using onto a CD.
It is amazing to me how far this sort of technology has come in such a short time. Why I can remember when you handed the crew your tape and told them the magic words,” It’s cued up.” When CD players started to become part of the standard equipment for the Masquerade, you handed the tech crew your CD and put a piece of tape on the CD that said the Track number that was to be played. Now you can mix and burn your own CD and hand it to them with the skit’s music only. The tech crew has A LOT to deal with so the simplification of what they need to do for sound is a very good thing. Also fewer people can scream at you since they are the ones who created the CD so all screw-ups are no longer because the tech crew messed up.
Caroline slept most of the way to her paternal grandparent’s house. When she was awake, she watched Nemo and then Monsters Inc. She ran around the house like a nut for a couple of hours. When we got her to the hotel room, she was ready to go to bed but not to sleep. She played in her crib and then tried to get out of her crib until 11:00 when I put her in my lap and settled her down. She fell asleep about 11:40 and is sleeping in this morning which is a good thing. Happy well rested Caroline is much easier to deal with than Cranky Caroline. I know I am very lucky that I have a child that travels well.
I am looking forward to FarPoint. It will be nice to get together with old friend and catch up on stuff. I am sorry that I didn’t get around to making my Scorpius puppet since the actor who played the character is going to be there but there are so many hours in a day and I am still mulling over how to do the body armor. I am thinking about doing a set of FarScape puppets for DragonCon if I get into the Art Show. I probably won’t do Rigel or Pilot since they are already puppets. In other news, I found my puppet portfolio and now am going to try to find a way to scan it so I can put the pictures up on my website so people can see some of my earlier work. Yet another thing to add to the list of things to do.
I am grateful for CD technology.
