Election Day!
Nov. 2nd, 2004 09:46 amIf you can vote then you should vote. I really don’t care what your politics are. I care more that as many people participate is one of the greatest privileges this country has for its citizens.
I am proud to be an American. There are times that I am not proud of my government but then there are times that I am. I am proud of the American people. I support the troops even if I do not agree at all about the war. Yes, it is possible to do both and not be a flip flopper. I am proud by the way that New York pulled together after 9-11 and helped each other through a difficult period of time. Some of that good will that was build during those dark times still exists. I am proud of how the Floridians pulled together after being hit by hurricane after hurricane this year. Neighbors helped neighbors.
There is something called the American Spirit and it is alive in the USA even with all our differences. The news focuses on the negative but there is so much positive about this country. I wish they would focus on that more and not just around the fourth of July.
OK. My adventures at Who wants to be a Millionaire
We arrived about 11:00 am and were numbers 99 and 100 in line. Peter went off to have lunch and run a few errands. I stood in line with a publisher, his significant other, a couple who had a passion for good pizza and let it be known that the store around the corner was not it, a mom and her grown son and a true mix of people from all over.
We were let into the studio about 12:45 which was an hour after we were told to arrive. We were shuffled into the seating area. The music they were pumping in was mostly 60s and 70s tunes that were fine with this audience. After sitting for a while we were given the TEST which consisted of 30 questions asking all kinds of random questions. I was unsure of only 5 out of the 30. The lady next to me had done this several times before over the last couple of years. She told us that even with the score they want, they randomly select from those who got the interview since they had only so much time after the show. 15 people were chosen from our audience. I was not one of them but I am happy that I did try out.
The taping of the show itself was very interesting. Meredith, who is the host, was very nice to the contestants and the audience. The one thing we did learn was when they do ask the audience it takes about 10 times as long for the computer to register the votes as when it is shown on TV.
I can’t really tell you the questions we were asked or what anyone won since you are not suppose to and I have been living with nondisclosure so much it has become an automatic reflex. So much so that recently I was talking to a friend about various stuff and something came up in conversation that I felt dropped under one of the NDA I am under. My friend reminded me that they are under the same NDA for that project so it was OK.
I am grateful that I can vote.
