The lack of game last night allowed us to catch up on our “Joan of Arcadia” watching since we were behind a week. I liked that series last year and it had not suffered, so far, from the sophomore slump. I have heard a lot of fans speculate that this will give Schilling more time to heal so it was good for the Soxs. It was the baseball Gods way of showing that they support the Soxs and not the Yankees. We’ll see what happens. The Astros better show some life this evening or the Cardinals are going to walk all over them on their way to the World Series.

I really like the Lord of the Rings movies. Right now on the “official” site there is a trailer for the extended scenes which will be in the extended DVD. This is being released in December just in time for various holidays. What I have found is that the extended scenes are just as good as the rest of the film, they just don’t move the plot forward. Peter Jackson was very smart in what he chose to leave in and take out and put back in.

Brian Froud has two new books out this month. Well one is due to be published at the end of the month but it has also been pushed back twice. It is a new Goblins book he did with Ari Beck. He and Ari did the Runes of Elfland together. I am really looking forward to it. I received a copy of Chelsea Morning which is based on the Joni Mitchell song. I really like the drawings. I am glad that Brian’s work seems to be in a renaissance. He is my favorite fantasy artist. I think Calder is my favorite modern artist with Picasso a close second followed by Miro. I like a lot of the Pre-Raphaelites for a slightly older school.

I am grateful to my parents for dragging me to all those art museums when I was younger. I didn’t understand or really appreciate then what I do now considering some of the masterpieces I have seen over time.
