Happy New Year to all my jewish readers

Caroline was better yesterday and is coughing a lot today with more nose running. We were going to take her to Boston tomorrow for a store signing Peter is doing since Maddrox came out by Marvel yesterday. If she is not much better by tomorrow, I will be staying home with her and Peter and Ariel will be off to Boston. Then there is the fact that my throat is starting to feel scratchy now…

I think Caroline will some day try out for Cirque Du Soliel. She is currently drinking her morning bottle while sitting on a soccer ball and balancing very well. She has really good balance for one so young. She was very careful about balance when she learned to walk, which was about a year ago.

Speaking of Cirque, there is a new show in Vegas called Ka. It combines martial arts with acrobatics and the usual Cirque tropes. This will make 3 (or 4) shows that Cirque Du Soliel has in Vegas of which I have seen none. Someday I want to go to Vegas, do a weekend of Cirque, and see all the shows I have not. I have seen all the current touring shows with the exception of the new one in Canada. It is something that lifts my spirits and re-enforces my belief in what is possible for one to do.

Speaking of Vegas (kind of interesting how this is all tying in here today), I watched the Roy Horn special where he and Siegfried were talking to Maria Shriver about his life since the accident and the accident itself. Part of the show promoted Father of the Pride which I happen to enjoy. It is not a perfect show but it has it moments and I am willing to give it some time to jell. The early Simpsons weren’t the most entertaining of their run either. I am hoping that NBC gives it some time to find its audience. The rest of the show was a blunt look at what Roy has had to go through to get back to where he is today. You can see frustration at times on Roy’s part but you can also see the determination to get back to what he was. He might never make it but he will give it all he has on the journey. His problems put simple things like dealing with baby colds and back problems in perspective. Siegfried was asked if he has learned anything from all this and he stated that life is uncertain and you should embrace it with both hands and live life to the fullest. They still have the tiger and Roy still feeds Manticore treats. Roy does not blame the tiger for what happened since the tiger was trying to help him in his tiger way.

I am grateful for small health problems that remind us we are not immortal or invincible.
