Well I’ll take this as a Good Sign
The front page of Part 2 of Newsday today is about all the puppet shows that just happen to be going on this fall. Both Basil Twist and Roman Paska have shows running now. The Basil Twist show is a remount of Symphonie Fantasique which I really would like to see having heard about it for years. According to the article this is because of the Henson Foundation giving money to groups and theater for performance. They are calling it “Puppetry in New York”. Not a formal festival like days of old but more of a grouping of puppet shows around the same time. There are a number of interesting groups and shows listed. The complete list can be found at www.hensonfoundation.org/puppethappenings
This is a good thing to see the Henson family back to supporting puppetry work that is not just for kids. It is also very nice to see an article in the newspaper that promotes this kind of work.
