Peter and I did some yard work yesterday that needed to be done. We have some bushes around our house that were starting to take over the house. We bought some yard waste bags as per our local ordinance and set to work. Our neighbor gave us some good advice about cutting some of the limbs that were sticking out and could be a hazard for shins, ankles and tiny people. He had done some work as a safety inspector so he tends to look at the world a little differently. Today my wrists and forearms are sore from all the limb lopping we did yesterday. Makes picking up the coffee cup interesting.
The American men’s basketball team is playing for a bronze. Good. Considering all the trash talking and excuses that came from members of that team, they don’t even deserve a bronze. I think some of the players who decided not to come could see the handwriting on the wall. The rest of the World can play basketball and play it well. Now the woman’s team, who have been getting much less ink, are playing for the gold against the Australians. The US has the over all medal count but it is slipping. Events the US use to dominate are now going to other countries. I am still grinning over the US women’s soccer team. Overall I think the women are doing better than the men in the medaling.
This time next week I will be at DragonCon. Hard to believe. I am hoping to get one visit to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack with Harlan and Susan. Ariel wants to go to Ru Sans for sushi. Atlanta has a lot of good restaurants. Caroline will love it because there will be a hotel for her to run through.
In the next week I have to make Ariel a wand holster, Peter a crown and a doll for a swap. We also have two ball games to attend (One Ducks One Mets). Once I get back from Atlanta I work on the vampire detectives I owe various individuals. I won’t get the goblin done for DragonCon so he is sulking in the back of my head.
I am grateful for Laurie Burkner’s music which amuses Caroline greatly. Caroline is dancing around her pen with a stuffed bear on her head.
