We went to visit Peter’s parents this weekend. His father just celebrated one of those milestone birthdays and they hadn’t seen the kids since april. The storm clouds were gathering when we left. There were also dire predictions by the weather services as to the weather from Bonnie and Charlie. We sucked it up and started down to Philly. By the time we got into New Jersey, the skies had cleared up and the drive was fine. We spent a pleasant weekend with my in-laws. The weather reports kept being doom and gloom. We had tickets to the Mets vs. Diamondbacks on Sunday (It was Hello Kitty day). We left on time Sunday morning and managed a quick drive with very little rain back to New York City and then onto Queens arriving at the ballpark in time for batting practice. Ariel and Caroline received their Hello Kitties. Ariel was tossed a ball by a Mets Player (We don’t know which one since they had their jackets without numbers on). We started to watch the game. As an added bonus Randy Johnston (The Big Unit) was pitching. He is very good and a lot of fun to watch. Then it started to drizzle. The drizzle turned into rain. It finally got too wet to keep the baby out in the rain so we left as the Diamondbacks got their first run in the 7th. We listened to the radio on the way home. When they got to the ninth, the skies opened up and the Mets lost. We encountered pockets of heavy rain on the way home but still made it in pretty good time considering traffic.

Now it looks like we will have a week of rain off and on. We need it. Our rainfall had been off for a couple of years and is just now getting back to normal. It had been a cool summer in terms on temperature.

I am sorting out my schedule at DragonCon still. I hope to have something more solid to post shortly. I am looking forward to the convention. I usually have a good time at DragonCon barring backpacks being stolen with almost irreplaceable photos.

I am grateful that I know how to pack efficiently and quickly. A skill I learned from my mother.
