Where did May go?

I swear that it was May 1st just the other day. Now I have to do my changing of the calendars. Sort of a less impressive version of the changing of the Guards at the Tower of London which if you ever get a chance to do so, you should see the ceremony once. It is really neat and you learn a lot of history standing where the history happened. But I digress.

I know I did a lot of things in May. We visited Peter’s parents on Mother’s Day. Peter went to a convention in Detroit. We had our wedding anniversary. Caroline and I went to Mommy and Me every Wednesday. There were other daily activities that took up time. It is amazing how much time it takes to keep the paper in this house down to a dull roar.

We have a lot to do in June too. Then there is July which had even more activities planned. August we are ramping up for Ariel’s Bat Mitzvah. September is the beginning of a new school year and so on.

Funny, as a child I thought time moved slowly. School days could drag into eternity. The last couple of weeks of school seem to take forever. Then there was the Summer which went on and on until school started again. Getting to Christmas took twice a long as any other holiday. We did have an Advent wreath so that give more of a time sense but since Christmas is not fixed to a day but a date there was some very odd years where we would celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve was the next day. Lent seemed much longer than 40 days. I can remember thinking I would never be an adult since it took so long for a year to go by. Once I became an adult, somehow time sped up. Now it flies by at a rapid pace.

Almost a year and 1/2 ago, I gave birth to Caroline and time sped up again. It seems that just yesterday she was this small helpless little person who ate and slept. Then she was sitting up and rolling over, then crawling, then wobbly walking, now running and climbing and walking on her tip toes. She is fast too. If we forget to put the gate up or close a door, she is up the stairs or through the door like a shot. For me I think time is never going to slow down and that is both good and bad. I wonder how time feels to her.
